I started by creating a rough skeleton of what I wanted the figure to look like. I designed this in SolidWorks and this CAD mockup took me about 2 days. I also used my personal 3D printer to prototype most of the structure (minus the head and bulb) to make sure I would be able to manipulate it how I wanted using hobby servos.

Once I added the servos into the CAD design I used the Pololu Maestro control center to control the servos and animate a sequence. I was able to play this sequence in a loop.

This video is of my presentation of my lamp prototype at the SITE (Students in Themed Entertainment) conference at the Ohio State University in February 2020.

After 3 months of prototyping, I finished a working figure that I designed in SolidWorks using mostly 3D printed parts. I was able to finish this project with the help of the 3D printers at the Bechtel Innovation Center at Purdue University.
