Maker March 2021
This tab is meant to highlight the models, CAD designs, and 3-D prints I developed during an event I created known as Maker March. In a similar vein to Inktober (where artists make the effort to post one new drawing/painting every day for the month of October), I will be trying to post one thing I’ve made or designed every day for the month of March. Most of these are fan pieces of intellectual property.
Day 1 of Maker March and I decided to model one of Stitch's blasters from the movie Lilo and Stitch in Solidworks.
Day 2 of Maker March and I modeled a Piston Cup from the movie Cars in Solidworks.
Day 3 of Maker March and I decided to show off an identity disk I modeled from the movie TRON: Legacy.
Day 4 of Maker March and thought I modeled an Aztec coin I modeled from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
Day 5 of Maker March and I modeled a neurolizer from the Men in Black franchise.
Day 6 of Maker March and I modeled a pin from the movie Tomorrowland in solidworks.
Day 7 of Maker March and I modeled a sign from the entrance to Disneyland
Day 8 of Maker March and I modeled a custom Epcot plaque in Solidworks.
Day 9 of Maker March and I modeled a replica ride vehicle from the Astro-orbiter attraction in the Magic Kingdom.
Day 10 of Maker March and I'm working on a tiki bird personal animatronic and I was able to start testing the neck and jaw movements. I still need to make some adjustments and I plan to move the pin holes for the pushrods deeper in the model's skull so as to better hide the pushrods.
Day 11 of Maker March and I modeled a Big Thunder Mountain Railroad ride vehicle.
Day 12 of Maker March and I modeled a Pokeball from the Pokemon franchise.
Day 13 of Maker March and I finished building a hammer for one of my manufacturing classes. This project has been teaching me how to use a lathe, a horizontal mill, a CNC milling machine, and a grinding wheel arbor. It still has a few more processes to undergo but overall I’m proud of how this project has turned out. If you look closely you can see I stamped my initials into the side of the hammerhead.
Day 14 of Maker March and I mounted my tiki bird animatronic to a pivot point and I was able to test the character's ability to lean forward and backward.
Day 15 of Maker March and I modeled a Jungle Cruise Ride vehicle in Solidworks.
Day 16 of Maker March and I modeled a set of spinning teacups in Solidworks.
Day 17 of Maker March and I modeled a Toy Story Midway Mania ride vehicle in Solidworks. This was the first time I have worked with decals and I love the additional level of detail it adds!
Day 18 of Maker March and I modeled the F.L.U.D.D device from the video game Super Mario Sunshine in Solidworks.
Day 19 of Maker March and I was able to redesign the tiki bird skull to move the pin holes inward as to better hide the pushrods used for the character's neck movement.
Day 20 of Maker March and I assembled the newly designed tiki bird head! This new design better conceals the push rods as shown below (new:right, old:left)
Day 21 of Maker March and I a modeled a ghost trap from the movie Ghostbusters in Solidworks.
Day 22 of Maker March and I modeled Obi-Wan Kenobi's lightsaber from the Star Wars franchise.
Day 23 of Maker March and I assembled a circuit I was working on for the Theme Park Engineering and Design club at Purdue. It will be used as a wireless joystick for an animatronic we are developing.
Day 24 of Maker March and I designed a medallion from the movie Hercules in Solidworks.
Day 25 of Maker March and I designed the grappling hook gun from the Batman Arkham video game franchise.
Day 26 of Maker March and I wrote g-code for a design that is going to be engraved on the hammer I made on day 13. It's a quote from the movie Meet The Robinsons.
Day 27 of Maker March and I designed the pager used to contact Captain Marvel from the end of the movie Avengers: Infinity War.
Day 28 of Maker March and I modeled a bat-arang from the movie Batman v.s. Superman: Dawn of Justice
Day 29 of Maker March and I modeled the Flash ring from the tv show The Flash.
Day 30 of Maker March and I modeled the green lantern and a green lantern power ring.
Day 31 of Maker March and I modeled the grape soda pin from the movie Up.
