Our Story

Have you ever wondered where you can get answers to some of your silliest questions? Well look no further than the Silly Goose Center for the Assessment of Blasphemous, Silly and Unusual Research and Development (or A.B.S.U.R.D for short)! Join Dr. Robert J. Gooseman and his lab assistant Terry through a series of interactive experiments to answer some of the world's silliest inquiries.

This themed experience was developed for my Masters' of Themed Experiences program at the University of Central Florida for the Fall 2025 semester. The contraints of this project were as follows:

  • The experience had to entertain guests for between 45 minutes - 3 hours

  • The experience could not be larger than 20,000 "on stage" indoor sq ft

  • There is no budget so go as big as you want!

  • The experience must include a staffing plan, an emotional arc, and must be presented at 4 stage gate presentation in front of a panel of industry professionals. These stage gates were:

    • Stage 1: Logo and a loose story

    • Stage 2: More focused story and layout with 1 piece of key art

    • Stage 3: Fully expanded story and minimum 4 pieces of key art (including a facade of your experience)

    • Stage 4:  Fully expanded story and minimum 5 pieces of key art (including a facade of your experience) and must incorporate any critiques you received from presentation 3

Early Sketches

When I initially pitched the concept, it was going to be the "Silly Goose Science Adventure", but being that these experiments leaned less on scientific principals and more on puns and slapstick humor I changed the logo and title to better reflect that after the  second dtage gate. The following sketches are of early concepts for both the initial logo and for demonstrations that did not make the final cut including a giant animatronic shrimp frying rice.

Final Presentation

Below is a copy of the final presentation. It was a privilege to develop this concept over the 4 month semester under the guidance of Pete Carsillo. This presentation includes concept art for some of the experiences that would be offered, a completed story and emotional arc (which can be found in the appendix of this presentation), and concept sketches for characters and staff costumes. This project allowed me to stretch both my artistic muscles and my creative writing abilities to develop a final story that is intended to delight both children and adults and allow them to indulge in their silly inquiries.
